Who am I? Hi my name is Eve Fan. I am a Communication and Journalism student studying at University of Minnesota Duluth. I came from China two years ago and I really like my life in Duluth so far. Basically, I am a highly sensitive person, emotionally and culturally. The sensitiveness gives me a hard time to balance my mind in life but also helps me see more while facing issues, events and people with stories.
What interests me? Besides food, page layout is the great passion of my life. I was the chief editor and graphic designer of my high school magazine and I wanted to do that because I love put stuff together and make print or online works like books, website, magazines... Also, I love writing in my mother tongue, Chinese, but I have not been writing in Chinese for two years after I came to school in U.S. I created a blog to introduce my own culture I would like to share with the public. Writing in English is one of my hobbies as well, and I am still learning to rock this second language of mine.
Why I chose Duluth? I never thought I would come here in Duluth. I failed my College Entrance Examination in China four years ago and needed to wait for another year to take the exam again. If I had not passed it the second time, I would have had to go to a university I did not really like, and it was impossible to transfer to another college in China; therefore I decided to study abroad. The university I finally attended had a program with University of Minnesota Duluth. I checked UMD online and thought this must be a good college. At least I got a lake to visit, right? I took the language test and handed in all the files, transcripts and documents. Then both Universities approved me to study abroad. Duluth then turned out to be the best place I have ever been in this entire world.
