My Lake Voice position: I work as one of two Art Directors at Lake Voice news. This job includes making sure that there are visuals to go along with stories like photos and info graphics. The cool part about my job is being able to add some life to a story by including photographs that help tell it.
Make a formal acquaintance: My name is Ava and I am from Minneapolis. I am currently a junior at the University of Minnesota Duluth studying Communication and Arts in Media. Some of my hobbies include various outdoor activities like hiking, camping, and fishing, as well as playing and listening to music, knitting, and going on adventures around Duluth. My list of favorites includes: pasta, brownies, mangos, Bruno Mars, Imagine Dragons, Beyonce, musicals (Mary Poppins, Singin’ in the Rain, Sound of Music, The Blues Brothers, etc.), the Olympics, the TV show New Girl, art/drawing, dogs, summer, coffee, lakes, and time with family.
Why I chose Duluth: I live in Duluth because of the location, UMD, and the people I met during my application process to UMD. Many Duluthians share the same love of the outdoors and pride in their city for the unique activities and venues it has to offer. One improvement I would like to see in Duluth is an increase in night-life options for students under 21. There have been quite a few times where I have been the young one in my friend group and am not able to enjoy a night on the town with them because of my age.
