UMD’s Sustainable Agriculture Project (SAP) will be hosting its fourth annual Farm Fest on Sunday, Sept. 17 from 12-4 p.m.

In the past five seasons, the University of Minnesota Duluth volleyball team has hit the road for the opening two weekends and is an astounding 37-3 in that stretch of matches.

The University of Minnesota Duluth Women’s soccer team kicked off its 24th season on the right foot, starting 3-0 in 2017. It’s the first time the Bulldogs have started 3-0 since 2005 (finished 8-11-0 overall that year.)

The University of Minnesota Duluth football team overcame a four-point deficit heading into the final quarter to defeat the University of Upper Iowa 33-21 this afternoon to capture its first win of the 2017 season.

In 1998 UMD made the decision to dedicate a space on campus that focuses on diversity and international students. This is called the Multicultural Center. It is a place that is meant to help enhance academic achievement, create a sense of belonging, celebrate diversity and foster positive relations among UMD students, faculty and staff.

While many people will be rushing into theaters for the latest superhero summer blockbuster this weekend, fans of comic heroes should also know that Free Comic Book Day is this Saturday, May 6. For those in Duluth, two comic book stores celebrating the holiday are Collector’s Connection and Rogue Robot.

When registering for classes last fall, I kept going back and forth when it came to “COMM 3555, Mass Media Addiction.” I could not figure out why I was so indecisive when it came to this class, but signed up for it nonetheless.

Now, as we wrap up the semester and I reflect on what I have learned in this class, I have finally figured out why I was so hesitant to take this course: I am more addicted to media than I want to admit.

It Has Arrived, the time when a linguist is at the forefront of science fiction. The time when a linguist saves the world from its imminent destruction and tactfully brokers peace between unfriendly nations. We’re talking about the movie “Arrival” and, man, did somebody do their homework. In fact, the mastermind of the film, Eric Heisserer, says to have extensively studied linguistics before putting pen to paper—finger to keyboard.
