Last minute-plans for Valentine's Day

No bae for Valentine’s day? If you ask enough single and coupled people about the date of February 14, odds are many of them would rather just forget Valentine’s day altogether. Whether it’s trying to find a last minute date, going out on the town with your sweetheart or just kickin’ it with your gals or dudes, Valentine’s day is just another day that comes with waves of positive and negative emotions.

 

 

As Valentine’s day waits just around the corner, the inevitable agitation sets in: What am I supposed to do for the occasion?

 

Luckily, there are a wide array of events in Duluth for any type of Valentine’s day participant.

LOON’s Valentine’s Day Soirée 2017

Tue, Feb. 14, 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm

Greysolon Plaza 231 E. Superior St.

Lyric Opera of the North presents a fundraising dinner and dessert event in the Greysolon Ballroom. Parking is free with validation. Happy hour begins at 5:30 with butlered hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Dinner is served at 6 p.m. $100

 

Valentine’s Dinner Jazz Show

Tue, Feb. 14, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Beaner’s Central 324 N. Central Ave.

Beaner's Central serves a six-course meal during a jazz concert, featuring guitarist Sam Miltich and the Clearwater Hot Club. They will perform romantic ballads, jazz standards, French musettes and Brazilian choros. Tickets include both the music and meal. $60

 

 

Grandma’s and Castle Danger Taps and Apps

Tue, Feb. 14, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Grandma’s Saloon & Grill 522 S. Lake Ave.

An evening of beer tasting and light appetizers, featuring five beer samplings from Castle Danger Brewing Company. These beers will be paired with appetizers specially crafted by Grandma’s Executive Chef Dave Rowell. Ticket prices include gratuity and taxes and are available for purchase at Grandma’s Saloon and Grill Canal Park. Additional pints will be available at Happy Hour prices during the event while supplies last.

Valentine’s Partner Yoga

Monday February 13, 7- 8 p.m.

Cost: $1 per person

Meet: Gold Room, 96 SPHC

A wonderful event for all UMD students and staff, bring a partner and share in a relaxing hour where you will learn and practice the art of yoga. This has been a very popular event, so register early!

 

Valentine’s Social

Where: Ballroom from 7-10 p.m.

Sponsored by Asian Pacific American Association

There will be music, two photo booths, food & drinks along with activities and valentine craft making.

 

Qdoba: Guests who kiss someone at the register at participating locations on February 14 will get a free second entrée when they buy an entrée. Additionally, the burrito chain is spreading the love even more and donating a dollar to No Kid Hungry for every Instagram post with #QdobaForaKiss shared from Feb. 10-15.

 

Papa John’s: Get a medium 1-topping heart-shaped pizza on thin crust with brownie for $15 OR get 2 for $18 in select stores (check with your local store first).

 

Dunkin’ Donuts: For the chance to win $2,500 and a year’s worth of coffee and donuts, fans can enter the “Dunkin’ Love” photo contest, sharing via Instagram how Dunkin’ Donuts is part of their love story, using hashtag #DunkinLoveContest.
